The Process for Designing a Custom Home

Getting Started

Our first consultation is free.

Design is both an art and a science. The best results come from a partnership between Architect and Client.

At our initial meeting we will explore your vision for your Project and how we can bring it to life, including:

• Expectations
• Your ideas and dreams
• Scope of work
• Your budget
• Proposed timeline

Next, we will establish an Owner-Architect Agreement/Contract to define:

• Project scope
• Architectural services
• Contractual fees

The Architectural fees are typically negotiated either as an hourly rate with a “not-to-exceed” amount stipulated, or as a percentage based fee to be negotiated on the agreed upon Project budget.

We will discuss what is the best option for you.

The next phase is designing and creating a vision for your project.
This is achieved with:

• Drawings including sketches and plans
• 3D Modeling
• Color renderings
• Materials selections

Drawings are created for bidding by contractor(s), and finally for the Construction phase.

The Building Construction phase begins with obtaining bids from contractors and proceeds through finalizing prices and plans for submitting for permits. We provide a range of services throughout the construction process and will work with you to suit your needs and comfort level. This may include site observation, materials & colors selection, plumbing & lighting fixtures selection, and communication with your contractor(s).
